Digital Summit Highlights AI Insights from Seer CEO Wil Reynolds

JULY 29, 2026 — Digital Summit highlighted AI insights from Seer CEO Wil Reynolds in a recent article that was also featured in the July 2026 edition of their newsletter, The Digital Summit Collective. The article, which discusses how authentic marketing is still the key to building brand credibility, is based on Wil's live speaking session from Digital Summit Denver 2026.

What Wil Said

Wil pushed back on the marketing industry's obsession with AI visibility, arguing that being discoverable isn't enough to build trust. While many brands are flooding the web with AI-generated content to play the visibility game, Wil says that content isn't valuable to customers and doesn't earn your brand any credibility points.

The Bigger Picture

Wil's broader point is for brands to avoid using AI as a content-production machine, and instead treat LLMs like a research partner. Use AI to help understand how customers talk about their problems and create messaging with real language, not jargon.

Wil's Advice for Digital Marketers

Wil is a strong believer in choosing high-quality and trust-building marketing strategies over AI-driven shortcuts (like mass AI-generated content). He advocates for treating trust as a business metric worth tracking rather than a byproduct of good marketing. Some of his top takeaways:

* Audit AI-generated content for real value: Instead of focusing solely on visibility, ask if the content solves a customer problem or provides value for your audience. Low-value content could be off-putting to potential buyers and degrade trust in your brand.

* Compare AI prompts to your own marketing language: If your company jargon differs drastically from the questions buyers are asking, then you're probably not getting in front of your audience. Research how real customers phrase questions related to your brand/industry and compare that to your website and marketing materials.

* Use AI to surface authentic customer language: Pull insights from customer interviews, sales calls, and online communities (Reddit, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) to understand how real people talk about their problems. Then reflect that language in your content and messaging.

* Tie business value to visibility metrics: Track AI citations alongside other business metrics like branded search, direct traffic, referrals, and conversations. AI metrics may seem flashy, but they fluctuate often and don't always translate into real business value. Your goal is to figure out if and how AI visibility is driving growth.
