VIDEO – How to use Twitter for linkbuilding

This past Affiliate Summit I had the pleasure of speaking on linkbuilding, and many facets of it.

In the video below I basically touched on Twitter (I’m at @wilreynolds) and how you can really use Twitter to do linkbuilding in a very natural and positive way. It is similar to my post on the linkbuilding tips no one talks about. Which is simple, just try to help people. I think there are tons of opportunities to just help people out and by helping them out you’ll gain followers, re-tweets, and even links, so in this video I go over some ways you can search Twitter to find linkbuilding opportunities for your SEO efforts. What about using twitter feed to post blog feed to twitter account? Is this a helpful link building strategy?

Great points.. One thing we always tell our clients is to not use social media as a marketing bullhorn but to create value and become a resource. Your point of using Twitter to help people solve problems in a real way definitely reiterates that piont.

I found your blog very helpful. At the beginning, I was spamming people unknowingly. People want value and then they will link to you!

Good ideas – basically it’s doing blogger outreach in the form of a contest and using Twitter as your method of contacting people rather than email. I like it because the email way can often feel spammy. The last time I tried it I had a really hard time writing an email that didn’t make me sound a) like spam or b) like a stalker. Using Twitter can help make that initial connection with the blogger a little easier and more natural.

@GregFriese – Just wanted to respond to you really quickly: Twitter has a nofollow tag so any links from Twitter to your blog/website will not count as links. However, if you tweet a link to your blog and one of your followers puts that link somewhere else (like on their own blog) THAT would build links, so like this video suggests, it’s all in how you use it.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your comments.

@Katie – I agree with you, its a softer intro, never thought of it that way, but it definitely makes a ton of sense, thanks!
